Harnessing Personal Power from Your Solar Plexus

The sun is finally shining on a fairly consistent basis here in Wisconsin! Birds are singing, baseball is in full swing, squirrels are eating my magnolia buds. It is a beautiful time of year that fills me with hope for the future, joy in new life, and a feeling of lightness. What a perfect time to discuss the next chakra in our beautiful rainbow of energy: the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Self-confidence, willpower, rational thought, as well as goal setting and achieving are all associated with your Solar Plexus Chakra. In other words, how you feel about yourself and your ability to set and achieve realistic goals has a lot to do with the state of your Solar Plexus.

Additionally, this chakra is associated with clairsentience, or “clear feeling.” Have you ever felt an emotion very deeply because someone around you was feeling it? Or maybe you can “feel” the right line to get in at the grocery store, which team will win the ball game, or if a traumatic event occurred in a place. All of these abilities relate to clairsentience, and, therefore, your Solar Plexus Chakra.

There have been many, many times in my life where I have simply known or “had a feeling” about things. I knew the Red Sox would sweep the Cardinals in the 2004 World Series. My gut told me which house was my step-grandmother’s, even though I had been there only once and not for 15 years. I instinctively knew my gas cap was broken, causing my check engine light to come on.

Experiences like this happen to all of us, in some way or another. Many times we negate them or just write them off as coincidence. In our overly busy, logically ruled lives, we may think we have no time or space for “gut feelings” or “intuition.” We don’t make space to incorporate what our inner voice is telling us with our day-to-day lives. People who routinely ignore these events tend to have an imbalance in their Solar Plexus Chakra.

Metaphysically, this might look like powerlessness, anger, being overly critical of self or others, feeling overwhelmed by the energy of others, or exhibiting aggression. I once had a student whose parent was angry 110% of the time. This parent was always degrading, yelling at, and attempting to humiliate me and other teachers. This parent would get so upset about the slightest “misstep,” it felt like constantly being around a ticking bomb. Talk about an imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra!

I know we have all experienced this type of energy before. I am positive there have been times when you have been aggressive, overwhelmed, felt powerless, and literally seen red, you were so angry. Always keep in mind these feelings are normal and okay to experience – you just don’t want to stay there very long. The goal is to notice those things, figure out what they mean, and work through them. To do that, we will spend this month delving deeper into the Solar Plexus. Together we will explore:

*Solar Plexus basics
*What imbalances look like
*Ways to balance this chakra
*How to tell if you are Clairsentient and ways to grow this trait

Your Solar Plexus Chakra is SUCH a powerful part of you – I look forward to continuing our learning journey together!

Namaste,
